Something interesting I heard...

I listen to Christian radio (talk radio) everyday. I really appreciate the shows (well, most of them). I like Jim Burns "Homeword", The World Vision Report, "Adventures in Odessey", "Unshackled", Truth for Life with Alister Begg, New Beginning with Greg Laurie and a host of others.
I heard someone make an insightful remark (insightful to me) on marriage. I don't remember who said it, but it made me think about what I want bring into a marriage. As a never married woman in her mid thirties, I have shifted my thinking from what I want FROM a mate to what assets I can bring to a marriage (besides a lot of emotional baggage and personality quirks).
The speaker said marriage should be fun, safe, satisfying, and secure. I want all of that.
Who doesn't want that. Then it hit me. I don't have to wait to be married to experience that in a relationship. I can have that right now, everyday with Jesus!
I was excited to realize that I can have that type of relationship with God. I can have fun with God, laugh with him over the everyday things we humans encounter. I can feel safe because God is in control no matter what. I can be satisfied in my relationship with Jesus because He is more than enough. I can be secure because "nothing can separate me from the love of God" and "all things work together for the good of them who love God are called according to HIS purpose".
I feel better already!
Low battery on the iphone. Time to chaaaaaarge!

You just encouraged me. Since I'm having a hard time getting all those things in my marriage, I can look forward to getting them with Jesus everyday and not dwell on what my husband is or isn't giving me or doing for me. Love ya!
